Frequently Asked Questions
We both started taking pictures with film cameras as kids, Theo around age 8, and Theresa at age 10. We were avid hobbyists and spent long hours in darkrooms through our teens and beyond. Theo went to photo school in his 20s, and Theresa to art school. We began working as a team in New York in 2010, photographing for brands and magazines. Weddings followed soon after. You can see our commercial work here.
We believe wedding photography is not only about images, but also about relationships. Your aesthetic preferences will be your first guidepost. Do you love what you see in our portfolio? Great! Let’s chat! Fill out an inquiry and we’ll reach out to schedule an initial consultation. This is your second guidepost: do you like and feel comfortable with us? Trust your intuition, it’ll help you know whether we’re a fit.
Once you know we’re the ones, let us know! We’ll send an invoice and paperwork your way. To officially reserve your date/s, simply pay the 50% deposit and return your signed contract. Your dates are then locked down, though you are still welcome to make adjustments to scope and add-ons (pending availability).
Planning: Once booked, we will schedule an initial planning session to go over details like content preferences, timelines, and any questions you may have for us. We are also available to connect with any relevant vendors, and welcome invites to venue walk-throughs.
Photography: We’re a duo, so you’ll always have two photographers; we may be biased, but we feel this is especially beneficial for weddings when there are so many special things happening, often simultaneously, in such a condensed period.
Editing and file delivery: Each wedding is distinct in its mood and style, and our editing and post-production are not one-size-fits-all. We work creatively with color and light, touching each file individually until we are satisfied. We deliver final images via password protected galleries that you may download and share with family and friends for up to a year.
We’ve photographed thousands of people over the years, in studios, on location, locally and internationally, loved ones and strangers, from models and actors who love the camera to so many more who shy from it. It’s half our job to put you at ease so you can be yourself. We are mellow and friendly and that's a good start, but we also use humour and clever (or silly) distractions, and we offer lots of guidance and encouragement along the way. If we’re doing our job well, you’ll find that sometimes you completely forget about the camera, and the magic flows from there.
Weddings start at $4500. Elopements start at $2000. Family and engagement sessions start at $800. Add-ons include, for example: engagement sessions, rehearsal coverage, extended coverage on your wedding day, and wedding albums. Discounts are available on certain days of the week. Feel free to reach out for more details!
We have traveled extensively for most of our careers, and absolutely love it. Currently, we aim to strike a balance between local work and opportunities that take us farther afield. Please reach out with details about your destination wedding, and we will be happy to chat through the possibilities.
All travel within greater PDX is included in your booking. For travel beyond the Portland area, we bill separately for reimbursables. Depending on the location, these may include airfare, accomodations, and/or local transport. Destination weddings often include several days of events, so pricing is customized to the desired coverage and event details.
We love to offer a sneak peak of a handful of teaser images within 48 hours — truthfully, we get so excited about the images, we practically can’t help ourselves. For the final edit, you can expect delivery within 4-12 weeks.
We love to shoot film and typically shoot a few rolls for each wedding, included in our standard fees. These require extra processing time, and may be delivered outside the 12 week parameter. If you’d like film images to represent a higher percentage of your final edit, we’re happy to discuss what's possible.
